About MBEC
The San Antonio Minority Business Enterprise Center (MBEC) is dedicated to helping the minority entrepreneur flourish and grow in today's marketplace.
Part of the UTSA Institute for Economic Development and the MBDA network, the San Antonio MBEC has a proven track record of service and advocacy in the minority business community. In operation since 1982, the center has served over 3,500 clients, assisted in procuring over $170 million in contracts, and aided in securing over $185 million in loans and bonds.
The San Antonio MBEC and its staff have received numerous awards, citations, and proclamations from a variety of organizations over the years in recognition of their outstanding support of the minority community. Most importantly, our clients often refer new businesses and individuals to the MBDC.
The MBEC continues to expand its comprehensive network for outreach and referrals with its strategic partners in the business community. These include banks, loan officers, federal and municipal agency staff, chambers of commerce, and private sector companies.
We are specialists and our mission is to level the economic playing field by providing professional technical and management assistance to minority-owned businesses, enabling them to fully participate in the local and global economy.
